Soy Sauce Chicken Dinner

Soy sauce chicken is both sweet and savory, and super easy to make! Most importantly, it’s received the toddler stamp of approval in our home.

This Soy Sauce Chicken recipe pears beautifully with almost any green vegetable and can be served over rice.

Watch the video below for a quick demo of how to make the recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 6-8 Chicken thighs (remove bone to cook quicker)
  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1 Cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 Cup Soy Sauce
  • 1/3 Cup Minced Garlic

Start by deboning the chicken. By removing the bone, the chicken will cook faster. If you like bone-in chicken, you can leave it in! Bone-in cook time will be about 20-25 mins longer.

Combine the water, sugar, soy sauce, and minced garlic. Mix well. When you’re finished mixing, pour into a deep sauce pan.

Add the deboned chicken thighs to the pan.

Heat to a medium boil/simmer. Flip the chicken about half way through cooking. The chicken is finished cooking when it reaches 175*F.

We use a meat thermometer to gage when our food is finished. Not all meats are finished cooking at the same temperature. It’s easy to over cook your meat and make it very chewy, or worse undercook it and get sick. By using a meat thermometer you’re able to see the exact internal temperate of the meat by sticking the needle into the thickest part. You’re guaranteed perfectly (and safely) cooked food every time! Here’s the meat thermometer we have used for over three years. We love this particular thermometer because it has a gage right on the handle that tells you what temperature each meat is finished cooking at, so you don’t have to memorize it or google it each time! It’s waterproof and has a light up LCD screen, so it’s easy to see if you’re grilling at night and it’s very easy clean!

Serve over sticky white rice with a green vegetable.
